The members at the annual general meeting approved the proposed 2011 membership fees. The main changes from 2010 are as follows:

• fees overall were increased by about (with rounding) 2% (there is also the 2% HST increase imposed by the government).
• the first adjustment to phase out Senior Family and Couple discounts over 5 years was made.
• to encourage timely payments, the base fees were increased by additional 10%, however if fees are paid by April 15, 2011, a 10% discount will apply.
• if fees are not paid by June 1, 2011, memberships will be suspended.
• Junior fees were significantly reduced to encourage race team memberships.

Although the members passed the proposed fees, there was considerable debate and discussion about our fees, particularly related to senior (or long time member) categories, social only memberships, etc. In light of this discussion, the board of directors was asked to study the issue and report back to the membership as soon as possible.

The members also approved minor proposed changes to our by-laws related to the definition of a special resolution  and the removal of clauses indemnifying directors and officers. These will be submitted to the government for approval shortly.
