Day 3 started with a very promising southerly seabreeze. The courses were set and it looked like it would be a carbon copy of yesterday but there was this rather significant gradient breeze that had other ideas. After one race on the double-handed course the wind dropped completely and changed from the South to the North West. On the single-handed course, the Lasers were able to finish their race, but both Laser Radial races were abandoned because of the shift. The ever-prepared race committees moved all the marks and equipment and set up for the new breeze which lasted the rest of the day. The 29ers and 420's were able to get in 3 more races while the Lasers and Radials got 2 more good races. So, after another long day on the water the both Laser Radial class are led by sailors from Kingston Yacht Club (Ontario): Violet Stafford and Hugh Macrae. In the Laser class, Kyle Martin from Vancouver holds on to top spot.
In the double-handed 29er class, Frederique Tougas and Florence Pepin-Delhaes are tops on the day. Meanwhile in the 420 class, Max Flinn and Andrew Burns are leading with Allison Surrette and Minette Murphy in second place - both teams from RNSYS in Halifax. The last day of racing is tomorrow with 2 races planned for most classes and 3 races for the 29er class. Competitors have to give a huge tip of the hat to the race committee which worked hard to provide some of the best racing you could get in conditions like today. |
