Dear members,

The summer has slipped by and autumn is upon us. Despite the weather, SMSC has been an active place for many events including memorable regattas and weddings. Although these activities tend to fill our calendar, they are an important part in helping fund our club and reflect our character. The majority of these are now behind us, and it is time to plan a fall series of social events. To that end, I require your input and assistance, as a good crew is needed to organize a generally unruly bunch of ‘sailors and scoundrels’.  If this sounds like a meaningful challenge,  and you would like to influence what activities we hold, I ask that you contact me so that a small steering committee on social events can be formed. I can aid with logistics (i.e. how to post an event, how to collect fees if needed, bar specials, how to get staff & get expenses reimbursed) but I really need an expression of interest of those members who want events!

As a starter, this Friday (Sept 16^th) there will be a TGIF, and your assistance will make it a success. I would ask those that plan on attending to contact me so we can co-ordinate ‘munchies’ contributions . Perhaps we can use this time as our first informal ‘meeting of the minds’ over drinks (it is meant to be fun!).
