Day 3 of the Trihedral CYA National Championships saw the best winds of the week with full-on seabreeze from 200 degrees on the compass and a good 14 to 18 knots of wind with nice surfing waves. In the Womens Laser Radial class Isabella Bertold from the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club kept her winning pace with 3 more wins today, and in convincing style. Nova Scotia sailor Danielle Dube had 2 seconds and a forth to move into second place, while Lisa Ross had finishes of 3-4-5 for third, both sail from the Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron (RNSYS) in Halifax.
In the Radial Mens division, Hugh McRae from Kingston Yacht Club in Ontario holds top spot with 18 points. Hubbards sailor Alexander Burke is tied for second with Jack Bignell from RNSYS in Halifax. In the super competitive Laser fleet, Chris Dold from the Royal Canadian Yacht Club (RCYC) in Toronto has a strangle hold on first with 1 points but he is carrying an OCS (over the start line early) so has to be vigilant of the competition. Second place Dave Wright, also from RCYC, is closely followed by Rob Crane from Noroton Yacht Club in CT, USA in third place. Racing continues tomorrow for the last race of the series. The weather looks a little ominous at this time, as they say this time of year anything can change! |
