The Trihedral CYA National Championships for the Laser, the Radial women and Radial men wrapped up at St Margaret Sailing Club (SMSC) in Glen Haven today. What was looking to be a day of very light wind and heavy rain turned out to at least have good wind. In the hotly contested Laser Radial womens class, Lisa Ross from the Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron (RNSYS) in Halifax finally found the turbo charge button and sailed an easy win in race eleven of the series. Lisa ended the series second overall on a tie break with Danielle Dube also from RNSYS (and SMSC) who had to settle for third. The overall winner was Isabella Bertold from the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club in Vancouver, who had an excellent series with 7 first place finishes. Her statement to the press "wow the sailing is good here in Nova Scotia."

The Laser fleet was won by Chris Dold from the Royal Canadian Yacht Club (RCYC) in Toronto. He won with a convincing score sheet of 10 races finishing fifth place or better. In second place was Lee Parkhill, also from RCYC, while third place went to Rob Crane from Noroton Yacht Club in Connecticut, USA.

The Radial Male fleet was won by Canadian Youth Champ Hugh McRae from Kingston Yacht Club in Kingston, Ontario. Second place went to Alexander Burke from Hubbards Sailing Club, and third place went to Hack Bignell from RNSYS in Halifax.

The St Margaret Sailing Club has always delivered a quality sailing regatta and they really went all out this time. Event Chair Rod Millar put together a team of the best regatta committee in the country and delivered an event of the same quality as the Laser Worlds held at St Margaret Sailing Club in 2009. The best of the best sailors in Canada were here and they went away with an appreciation of sailing in Nova Scotia.
